Attorneys

Sean P. Dwyer is an accomplished litigator whose practice is focused on the handling of high-exposure casualty cases, environmental and construction claims, professional liability matters, insurance coverage disputes, professional disciplinary proceedings, and white collar criminal investigations. He has appeared as trial and appellate counsel on behalf of many casualty and excess insurance carriers. As a trial attorney with over twenty years of experience, Sean has tried numerous civil and criminal matters with many proceeding to verdict.

Sean has served as defense counsel-of-choice for several hospitals in the Long Island region. In this capacity, Sean has been designated a Certified Medical Malpractice Trial Counsel by a nationally recognized professional liability carrier and he also holds a certification in Risk Management in the dental field. He has also represented the interests of many healthcare professionals before disciplinary and peer review boards.

Beyond his extensive litigation practice, as a LEED® Accredited Professional and a Member of the United States Green Building Council, Sean is a nationally recognized authority in green building and sustainable design. He advises construction and design professionals, engineers, brokers and insurance carriers in LEED and regulatory compliance, construction disputes, professional liability claims and insurance coverage matters arising in green building projects. Sean also specializes in providing green building consulting services nationally in both commercial and residential projects. He is one of the first attorneys in New York State to earn the LEED® Accreditation. Sean frequently lectures on green building and he has provided presentations and training sessions for construction professionals, insurance carriers, and risk managers throughout the United States.

Sean frequently lectures on trial and litigation issues for the bar and has authored many publications and articles on advocacy. Sean has been certified as a Continuing Education instructor in over a dozen states and his legal lectures have been recorded for national distribution for attorneys and insurance professionals pursuing continuing education certification.

Prior to entering private practice, Sean was appointed as an Assistant District Attorney under the Hon. Robert M. Morgenthau, District Attorney of New York County. During his tenure, Sean served in the Trial Division and the Rackets Bureau in the Labor Racketeering/Construction Industry Strike Force. Sean has also served as a Special Assistant Attorney General for New York State.

Sean earned his Juris Doctor from New York Law School in 1987. He is a member of the Order of Barristers and received the Professor Vincent LoLordo Award for Excellence. He received his B.A. from Manhattan College and attended Regis High School in Manhattan. He is admitted to practice in New York, and before the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, District of New Jersey and District of Connecticut.
