Attorneys

Carla Varriale is a litagator who has represented Major League Baseball teams and players, minor league teams and clients in the recreation and sports industries. Carla has obtained noteworthy dispositive motion victories in cases involving injuries arising out of promotional activities at sporting venues. She writes and lectures on issues of interest to sports, recreation and entertainment venues, including water parks and amusement parks.

Carla counsels entities with self-insured retentions regarding methods to minimize exposure and to develop successful risk management and litigation strategies, particularly those related to security issues.

She received her undergraduate degree from Boston University in 1988 and her Juris Doctor from New York Law School in 1992. At New York Law School, Carla was a member of the Moot Court Executive Board and the Order of the Barristers. In 2003, she was named to the Advisory Committee of the Institute of Paralegal Studies at New York University. Carla is on the faculty at Columbia University's School of Continuing Education, where she is teaching a "Sports Law and Ethics" class.

Carla, who is a member of the Sports Lawyers Association, is admitted to practice in New York and Connecticut, and before United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
